Something I think is interesting is the cuteness/creepiness overlap... uncanny valley ofc but also I think a huge part of it is the rise of anime in mainstream which is such a fascinating trend to me... also I think whatever this new wave of cuteness is has less to do with blobbiness and more to do with details and tchotchkiness... in a sort of hoard-y, spiderwebby way.
